The Church hurt me
Look.. I know. You may be turned off to the concept of "church" because perhaps you thought the building was supposed to be Holy, yet some of the people you encountered within the building treated you some kind of way. You were hurt by it because after everything you heard about "going" to "church" and what would happen for your good at the building called church... it did not meet your expectations. I get it. But you likely had the wrong view of what a church is. The church is YOU, NOT the building. YOU are the temple as it is written in 1 Corinthians 3:16. You thought the building would make people Holy and treat you with God's love. But perhaps the people you ran into are seeking just like you and have not grown in spiritual maturity yet. They are hurting too and maybe have not completely surrendered to Jesus yet. This is a process for all of us. Your relationship with Jesus should be personal...not contingent on someone inside a building.
You are a temple that the Holy Spirit is supposed to dwell in once you accept Jesus, repent of your sins (turn away from) and be baptized in the name of the Father, Jesus and Holy Spirit. Now the Holy Spirit can dwell in you as YOU become the Holy Church in your community. That's what the true church is. It is not a physical building where boundaries are established by man. With that being said, it is our job to equip you with sound doctrine from the word of God that can help you live out Matthew 28:19-20 known as the Great Commission. When you are equipped, you will be able to DEMONSTRATE (live out) what is written in the word of God.
